Demanding an education for disabled people everywhere

Despite repeated pledges from the international community, including making universal education the second Millennium Development Goal, there are still over 60 million children out of school. What's more, an estimated one third of those children are living with a disability. That's a grossly disproportionate number compared with disability levels in the general population.

There are many reasons why disabled children are so routinely excluded, from outright discrimination and hatred to a simple lack of resources. If we are to see the changes necessary to ensure that the next generation of disabled children has a better start in life than this one, we need to ensure that they can get an education. To make those changes happen we need people to speak out on these issues. That's why this month we'll be engaging our local Paralympic heroes and asking them to join the call for education for all.
