April Grassroots Conference Call

6 Apr 2022

Our April grassroots conference call delved into the importance of supporting the work of the Global Fund to Fight TB, AIDS and Malaria. We were joined by guest speaker Laura Zagrebelsky who leads the UK donor relations at the Global Fund. The Global Fund provides 77% of all international resources to fight TB! Laura explained why advocacy in the UK is at the heart of supporting the Global Fund’s goals, by helping to push the UK Government to make a financial pledge. The UK has been the second largest donor in the last two replenishments and it has been a contributor to the Fund since its creation. This has entailed a level of engagement and commitment that needs to be maintained and improved if we are ever to see the end of these three deadly diseases.

The 7th replenishment of the Global Fund is a key moment guiding our advocacy work this year. A further US $18 billion from international donors must be committed for the Global Fund to continue its lifesaving work for the period 2023-25 to prevent 20 million more deaths. We’re at a critical point in getting back on track to end TB, AIDS and malaria by 2030 - as set out in the Sustainable Development Goals - and political pressure will be needed.

Take action now and call on the UK government to pledge to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria - Check out our action materials.
