With less than 3 weeks to go until the RESULTS National Conference 2016, things are starting to heat up!

We’ve got a brilliant line up of leading thinkers, campaigners and practitioners all ready to talk to you about where they stand on the hottest international development debates, with new speakers being confirmed each day. If you’ve already bought a ticket, then we can’t wait for you to join us in London. And if you haven’t got yours yet, then there’s still time to register here.

It’s going to be a fun and inspiring weekend but in case you still need convincing to come along, here are 6 reasons why we’re excited about the National Conference 2016.

1. We’re discussing the biggest debates in international development right now

The world is rapidly changing. Economic growth has lifted millions of people out of poverty, and the new Global Goals show exactly what we need to end extreme poverty by 2030. In the UK, we have a new law requiring us to ensure that 0.7% of our national income is spent on international development efforts.

But there are some major challenges to the way international development is being practised. Inequality is on the rise. Security and migration, increasingly fragile states, a changing global economy, and vulnerability to climate change all require new solutions.

By coming to the National Conference, you get to join in the debate.

2. With some amazing speakers!

We’ll be hearing from the likes of Kirsty McNeill, Executive Director of Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns at Save the Children UK and Amy Dodd, Director of the UK Aid Network, to name but two.

Kirsty has worked in Number 10, as well as playing an integral role in the #turnupsavelives campaign to secure the passage of the 0.7% aid bill.  Amy has worked as an advisor in the Shadow International Development team focusing on gender, economic development, conflict and fragility and climate change issues.

3. You’ll get to sharpen up your advocacy skills…

With creative training sessions on everything from ‘how to map your sphere of influence’, to clever ways to make the most of social media, you’ll feel armed with the tools you need to captivate an audience and persuade decision-makers when talking about international development.

4. …And meet with influential figures in Government

What better way to put your new skills into practice than by attending meetings in Parliament and at the Department for International Development in Whitehall. You’ll be able to put your points directly to the decision-makers who shape and implement Government policy on the topics you care about. We’ll make sure you are fully briefed!

5. We’re celebrating RESULTS UK’s 30th birthday

This year our Saturday social will be more special than ever before as we celebrate RESULTS UK’s 30th birthday together. Join us over a meal and some drinks to celebrate how far we’ve come and relax after a day of topical debates.

6. Our Grassroots Campaigners tell us the National Conference is amazing!

If all of the above isn’t enough to get you rushing to sign up for the weekend, don’t just take my word for it. Year and year again our Grassroots Campaigners leave the National Conference realizing the incredible power they possess to use their voices to change the world.

Larissa from Oxford says: ‘I went last year and it was so good! I learnt a lot, met some lovely people and got to go to Parliament to speak with the Department for International Development. I highly recommend it’

And Jason from Bristol says: ‘I’ve been going to this conference organised by Results for 3-4 years now and each time I leave with renewed motivation because of the amazing lineup of speakers. Monday is always a great day to put into practice what you have learnt with some good old-fashioned advocacy, sometimes at Parliament or DFID’

Tickets are available for all or part of the weekend. We can support a limited number of attendees with travel bursaries – get in touch with Aamirah Patel at [email protected]
