During World Immunization Week (24-30 April), people around the world come together to highlight the importance of vaccines and how they protect us against diseases. So, for World Immunisation Week, at RESULTS, we have reflected on the advocacy we’re doing around vaccines, why it’s important, and what it’s got to do with an end to poverty.
Our 2022 February conference call provided great insight into the world of vaccine development. The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a global partnership to accelerate the development of vaccines against emerging infectious diseases and to enable equitable access to these vaccines during outbreaks. This was a new topic for a lot of our Grassroots network, and is often a topic which is shrouded in...

“It is time that the Government gives clarity as to how it will play a leading role in ending the pandemic globally. Boris Johnson says he wants us to be ‘Global Britain’. Well, now it is time to step up to the...
With the World Health Organization’s (WHO) target of 40% COVID-19 vaccine coverage in every country by the end of 2021 looming and the world being completely off-course from achieving it, this blog analyses some of the decisions and factors that underpin our current state of inequitable access to COVID-19 tools, including vaccines and treatments. ...
In our December call, we reflected on our campaigning in 2021 and heard some updates and news about recent UK Government decisions on international development issues, in particular the disappointing outcomes of the Spending Review and the Nutrition for Growth Summit . We then heard from RESULTS Advocacy Officers about TB, COVID-19...
This month's grassroots conference call discussed the need for 'vaccine equity' in the global COVID-19 response. Our guest speaker, Oxfam GB's Health Policy Manager Anna Marriott, called for the UK Government to both scale up donations of surplus vaccines to countries that need them, and to support the sharing by pharmaceutical companies of the recipes, knowledge and technologies to scale up vaccine production capacity globally. You can read more and take action...
In our September grassroots conference call, we focused on the issue of nutrition, with just weeks to go now before the important Nutrition for Growth Summit in early December. But that's not all! With the UN climate conference (COP-26) coming up in Glasgow, there's a great opportunity to use this UK Government priority to show the impact climate change has on food security, hunger and nutrition - see the links below.
We were privileged to hear from nutrition advocacy expert Meaza...
In 1921, we were recovering from a major flu pandemic and the First World War. Telephones were still a rarity, and those that did exist were clunky, static and expensive. We were still five years away from the world’s first television screening and Charlie Chaplin had just released his first full-length film. 1921 was also the year in which the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine – more commonly known as the BCG – was first used...
Our July conference call addressed the topic of COVID-19 Vaccine inequity. We discussed the necessity for countries with excess vaccines to urgently share doses with countries facing barriers to accessing vaccines.
Our expert guest speaker, Waiswa Nkwanga, Senior Associate at the ACTION Global Health Partnership , answered questions about why the dose sharing announcements made...
On Tuesday 2 June, over 35 RESULTS UK grassroots advocates from all over the country (and internationaly!) joined our monthly conference call. It was the start of National Volunteers Week so we began the call with a big thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who give up their time to take action to end global poverty. We had a roundup of updates about previous monthly actions, campaigns and events that have happened across the network.
