RESULTS is looking to hire a Health Advocacy Officer to join our health team and help support the work of the TB Europe CoalitionThis is a temporary post available until December 31st 2014 and you must be a bi-lingual Russian/ English speaker in order to apply.

The TB Europe Coalition (TBEC)

The TB Europe Coalition (www.tbcoalition.eu) is an informal advocacy alliance that shares a commitment to raising awareness of tuberculosis and to increasing the political will to control the disease throughout the WHO Europe Region and worldwide. RESULTS coordinates the work of TBEC along with our partner organisation Global Health Advocates who are based in Brussels. TBEC works to influence regional EU policy on TB and to build the capacity of civil society organisations in the region to call on national governments to prioritise TB domestically.

The Role

Over the past few years, RESULTS and Global Health Advocates, along with other allies, built the TB Europe Coalition into a strong and successful network of TB advocates. TBEC now has members in more than 170 members across 25 different countries throughout the greater European and Central Asian region.

RESULTS is looking to recruit a Russian-speaking Health Advocacy Officer who can help take TBEC’s work forward and who can support Russian-speaking individuals and organisations in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. This is a new role. It is a time-limited role and one aim is to use this time period to gain access to sustainable sources of support for TBEC.

The post reports to the Global Health Advocacy Manager, who has ultimate strategic and managerial responsibility for our global health work. The postholder will work closely with Global Health Advocates office in Brussels and with the TBEC Steering Committee who lead the Coalition and advise on strategy. The postholder will carry out advocacy activities and research to support TBEC members in influencing their national governments to dedicate more resources for TB.

The role will require familiarity with tuberculosis (not a technical or medical familiarity, but an understanding of the disease and its impact). The postholder should understand how civil society operates in the Eastern European and Central Asian region, and would preferably have an understanding of financing mechanisms for TB such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM).
