RESULTS National Conference 2020: Hopeful campaigning in challenging times

12 September 2020 - 9:00am to 13 September 2020 - 6:00pm
Online meeting
United Kingdom

It’s been a tough year, and it’s not over yet!

The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasised the need for solidarity and for fair global systems that are fit for purpose.

Access to quality healthcare and education, the opportunity to make a decent living and to live free from oppression - it has become clearer than ever that these needs are intimately connected, and not to be taken for granted. With just 10 years to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, a looming recession on the horizon, and a climate emergency that never went away, the pressure is on to build societies that are fairer and more resilient.

There’s no doubt that these challenges to RESULTS’ work have felt very personal too. The pandemic has been on our doorstep and is affecting people close to us.

But the need in the world for advocacy - using our voices to create change - is urgent, and is not going away any time soon. As campaigners, we too will need to be resilient.

So let’s reflect together, lift each other and explore our roles and purpose in all of this.

What will we do:

· ‘Big picture’ thinking on the current challenges and opportunities in the world

· Take time to connect with each other and reflect on our personal roles as advocates

· Explore the tools and methods we use to help create the world we want to see

Expect inspiring speakers and thought-provoking online workshops in our celebration of campaigners everywhere!

Who is the conference for?

Everyone is welcome, whether you are only just starting out as an advocate or you have been with RESULTS for a long time. If you are brand new, you can attend a short introductory session with us on Saturday morning, covering RESULTS UK’s work and what it’s like to volunteer with us.

Do I have to join every session?

We’d recommend you try to attend the whole conference if you can, to get the most out of the overall theme and flow of the event. Having said that, you are of course free to come and go as you need to. We’ve included lots of breaks and kept the agenda down to a half-day on each day to try and minimise ‘Zoom fatigue’.

Session times:

Saturday 12 September, 9 am - 1.30 pm

Sunday 13 September, 2 - 6.30 pm

Monday 14 September - our usual 'advocacy day' with MPs and civil servants is TBC - please hold the date if you are interested! Details to follow.
