The first big test

Brexit has put Britain’s place in the world in the spotlight. One of the ways in which the UK has continually shown global leadership is through its commitment to international development. The last government enshrined the UK’s commitment to 0.7% and helped broker the Sustainable Development Goals, which now provide the international roadmap for human, social and economic development.

For the new government, the first big test of Britain’s place in the world and its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals will be the Pledging Conference of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria in Montreal on 16th September.  Most major donors have announced their contributions towards the Global Fund’s target of $13 billion, many of them making increases of at least 20% on their previous pledges.

Take action and call on the Rt. Hon. Priti Patel to match this ambition at the pledging conference and reaffirm the UK’s position as a global leader in the fight against the three epidemics.
