Help the UK tackle malnutrition at Rio

26 July 2016

We have made progress in tackling global hunger, yet we live in a world where malnutrition still affects 1 in 3 people and contributes to 45% of child deaths. The world is way off track to achieve the aim of the Global Goals to “end hunger and malnutrition by 2030”.

The UK has been a world leader in tackling malnutrition. The Government must now show its continued commitment and meet its objective of improving nutrition for 50 million people over the next 5 years.

On 4th August 2016, the Brazilian Government is hosting an event alongside the Rio Olympics to assess progress in tackling malnutrition, and to find a way forward. It is now time for the UK government to lead once again, and drive progress toward investment in improving nutrition.

In the run-up to Rio, it’s important that the Government hears strong public support for action on malnutrition. Please write to your local media and use your social media channels to ask Priti Patel if the UK is #ReadyforRio.
